The Story Behind the Blog

About

A personal travel journal documenting slow trips, mountain trails, and the quiet beauty found between destinations.

Who’s Behind This

I’m Aakash — a software engineer by profession, a wanderer by compulsion. This blog is where I document the trips that stay with me long after the journey ends.

I started travelling seriously around 2022, and what began as weekend escapes to the hills has evolved into a habit of going deeper — slower — into the places I visit. Less ticking off lists, more sitting with a cup of chai at a roadside dhaba watching the mountains.

You can learn more about me and my work on my personal site.

What This Blog Is About

This isn’t a travel guide in the traditional sense. You won’t find the “Top 10 Things to Do in…” here. What you will find:

  • Personal experiences written close to the moment — honest about the bad roads and the breathtaking views
  • Day-by-day diaries for treks and longer trips, so you know what to actually expect
  • Photography shot on a phone, because the best camera is the one you have with you
  • Practical itineraries built from real planning mistakes and lessons learned

The Destinations

Most of my trips have been in North India and the Himalayas — Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan. I’ve also made it to Bhutan, which changed how I think about travel entirely.

Every destination section has multiple posts — overview pieces, day-by-day experiences, and photo galleries from the trip.

The Philosophy

Slow down. Stay longer. Talk to people. Eat local. Get lost on purpose.

The best moments on every trip I’ve taken have been unplanned. The spontaneous detour to a monastery, the conversation with a shepherd on a pass, the sunset nobody else stopped for.

This blog exists to capture those moments — and maybe inspire you to seek your own.
